1.35 Ballycahill Beginners Steeplechase;
4pt Exacta: Kayf Supreme (4)/ Kansas City Chief (3)
4pt Exacta: Kayf Supreme (4)/ Carigeen Lobelia (5)
2pt Exacta: Kayf Supreme (4)/ Festive Day (1)
Reasoning
Kayf Supreme looks to have outstanding claims of breaking his maiden over fences after a very promising effort at Leopardstown in a handicap last time. He looks a class above these in truth and is banker material for Tote exacta purposes.
The battle for second place looks a lot more competitive and three are taken against the field;
Kansas City Chief is no star but he looks sure to stay this trip and is race fit after a recent run behind Tell Us More he must have a strong chance of being in the mix.
Carigeen Lobelia was a decent mare in point-to-points and didn’t run a bad race for a long way last time before unseating at the last. She should be suited by this step up in trip and could go well for her local connections.
Festive Day probably has the most talent here outside of the favourite but it is a major concern that this will be his first run since May 2015. He will surely improve for this run but he could be good enough to take second anyway.
2.40 Rock Of Cashel Handicap Steeplechase;
3pt Exacta: Milanesque (2)/ Tooreen (3)
3pt Exacta: Milanesque (2)/ Adams Wood (4)
2pt Exacta: Milanesque (2)/ Notification (5)
Reasoning
Milanesque looks another horse to bank on after his stroll to victory at this course last time. He has been raised 10lbs for than but he looks more than capable of defying that rise.
Again I would look to pair three with Mianesque for Exacta purposes;
Tooreen comes from a stable in good form and can be expected to improve for her seasonal debut last time. She has previously run well under similar conditions and she can be expected to go well again today.
Adams Wood was a horse on the rise in 2014 before injury stopped his progress but he ran respectably on his return at Fairyhouse 12 days ago. If he can improve at all for that he should run into a place.
Notification was a decent handicap hurdler who hasn’t shown much over fences in three runs to date. However he steps into handicap chase company for the first time today off a mark 9lbs lower than his current hurdles rating. He is a prime candidate to run better than his likely price.
3.15 thurles.ie Maiden Hurdle;
10pts Exacta: Road To Respect (7) /Sizinguptheamazon (1)
Resoning
A major step down in class for Road To Respect who has been contesting some of the hottest maiden hurdles in the country this winter. He has been given an official rating of 130 which should be too much for his rivals to deal with here.
Sizinguptheamazon looks a horse of some promise and looks to be suited by this further step up in trip. He was a good second behind Don’t Tell No One last time and is the only realistic contender to Road To Respect here. However he does have to concede 10lbs to Road To Respect here meaning he will likely have to settle for second place.
