Nap of the day – Empress Lyla (7.55)
5.10 – Top Othe Ra – Guinness Handicap Hurdle – Each/Way
Top Othe Ra finally got off the mark at Ballinrobe and is taken to follow up in the competitive contest. He held on to beat the well-fancied Licklighter on that occasion and his earlier run behind Timiyan also reads quite well. Camlann ran three times at the festival last year and was a winner on the final day, and he ran another big race here when second to the well-handicapped Andratx over 12 furlongs yesterday. His previous form also reads very well but it’s not quite as good as Stormey which added to his win at Clonmel in May with a clear-cut success at Bellewstown a month ago. Monarch was the winner of a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan two weeks ago and runs in his first handicap hurdle while one with more experience is Rochdale House which comes here having won at Sligo last time. Zanjabeel (change in going) is a notable early non-runner while, back over hurdles, Light That should also be considered and Golden Spear is yet another to note. Morga ran a huge race to finish fifth behind Tigris River in the big race yesterday but doesn’t run here.
Exacta – 10-8 (Top Othe Ra/Monarch) Trifecta – 10-8-6 (Top Othe Ra/Monarch/Stormey)
5.45 – Warm The Voice – Guinness 17:59 Irish EBF Median Auction Maiden – Win
Warm The Voice ran with plenty of promise behind stable companions Delano Roosevelt and odds-on favourite Coat Of Arms on his debut at Leopardstown eight days ago and looks the one to side with. Running from a favourable stall, he drops back in trip for this and is chosen ahead of Krispen which was third to Boragh Steps over six furlongs at Fairyhouse on his first start. He too should improve and might be a bigger danger to the selection than Big Bad Sal which was running for the third time when close up behind Tamboureen at Bellewstown. Shifted Strategy was also having his third start when third behind Lethal Steps at Killarney but there might be a chance that both the newcomer Rip Rocks Paddy Ok and the once-raced Break Spring will pose greater threats.
Exacta – 8-3 (Warm The Voice/Krispen) Trifecta – 8-3-9 (Warm The Voice/Krispen/Big Bad Sal)
6.15 – On Fiddlers Green – Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase – Each/Way
On Fiddlers Green just missed out on a place in TheTote.com Galway Plate on Wednesday and will be a leading fancy to win this. He ran away with this race last year, comfortably beating this evening’s rival Aranhill Chief into second place, and bounced back to form when winning in good style at Roscommon in June. Aranhill Chief has run two nice races of late as he bids to go a place better and he should go well along with Phil’s Magic which beat both Mr Boss Man and Net D’Ecosse to win at Kilbeggan two weeks ago. Top Of The Town didn’t do so well behind Baily Moon at Kilbeggan last time but certainly comes into it on his previous run when a winner at Tipperary in May. Baily Moon disappointed at Kilbeggan since but is one to watch out for all the same. Lake Takapuna hasn’t run since January but might have a chance along with Thanks For Tea, The Gatechecker and The Winkler.
Exacta – 1-5 (On Fiddlers Green/Aranhill Chief) Trifecta – 1-5-14 (On Fiddlers Green/Aranhill Chief/Thanks For Tea)
6.50 – Whiskey Sour – Guinness Handicap – Win
Whiskey Sour was a very good winner here on Monday evening and is ahead of the handicapper as he reappears. He went up 12lbs for his comfortable success over Swamp Fox and Lagostovegas but has just a 7lbs mandatory penalty to contend with now. The draw might have been kinder but he is chosen ahead of Fiesole which is in the best of form of late and was a winner over hurdles at Down Royal in May before scoring over a trip closer to this at Limerick in June. He was just beaten at Fairyhouse last time. On The Go Again won a maiden over a distance just short of a mile at Bellewstown and won’t be put out the step back up in trip. The Moore Factor might be another to consider. Song Of Namibia has a temperature and misses out and another early non-runner is Lady Derrynane. Haripour is off his feed and is another sitting this one out.
Exacta – 4-7 (Whiskey Sour/Fiesole) Trifecta – 4-7-8 (Whiskey Sour/Fiesole/The Moore Factor)
7.25 – High Language – Guinness Irish EBF Fillies Maiden – Win
High Language was only just behind the fancied Two For Tea on her first start at Gowran Park a fortnight ago and the extra few furlongs here might be the making of her. She started off over the extended nine furlongs and shaped as if this step up in trip would suit. Spring Garden finished ahead of Lady Nathaniel on their debuts at the Curragh in mid-May. Both have run since with the latter faring much the better in finishing third to Black Ruby at Fairyhouse. Muniza just lost out to the selection’s stable companion Kamili on her first start over a mile at the Curragh. Given the form of her stable though, she is difficult to fancy and perhaps the twice-raced Dawn Choir and Flaming Sea, with four runs under her belt, will be bigger dangers.
Exacta – 7-9 (High Language/Lady Nathaniel) Trifecta – 7-9-12 (High Language/Lady Nathaniel/Spring Garden)
7.55 – Empress Lyla – Arthur Guinness Handicap – Each/Way
Empress Lyla ran well from a wide stall over a shorter trip than this on Monday night and might just do a little better now. The draw hasn’t done her much of a favour this time but over the extra distance, she might just turn the tables on Delegating which finished two places in front of her in third behind Dinky Inty over seven furlongs here at the beginning of the week. Desert Dancer was a little further back that night. Over a trip closer to this, the selection had earlier run a big race behind Detailed at Ballinrobe where this evening’s rivals Wild Shot and Binary Code were in behind her. Binary Code had run much better races earlier in the season at both Gowran Park and Killarney. Green Panda had the ground in her favour when the easiest of winners at Ballinrobe and again ran well on a sounder surface when third to Cloudy Miss at Bellewstown since. The draw is definitely against her though. Cosy Club was a narrow winner at Ayr and runs from a much better draw as does All The Mollies which was a good winner at Ballinrobe and is up 10lbs as a result. Noble Intention has a temperature and misses out.
Exacta – 6-2 (Empress Lyla/Delegating) Trifecta – 6-2-4 (Empress Lyla/Delegating/Binary Code)
8.25 – Benkei – Budweiser Race – Win
Benkei got no run from the four furlong pole in the big amateur riders’ handicap here on Monday night and with better luck could be winning this. He ran on when it was all over to take eighth place behind easy winner Whiskey Sour and is certainly better judged on his run at Down Royal this day last week when fourth to The Tartan Spartan in a listed race. Both Motherland and Savannah Storm were behind him that night and are 5lbs worse off at the weights now. Digeanta fared better in Monday night’s feature and took fourth place behind Whiskey Sour but might struggle to confirm the form with the selection. His stable companion Renneti was a few lengths behind Savannah Storm in the listed race won by Flying Fairies at Roscommon but he might improve as that was his first start since the Punchestown festival where he ran a big race in a valuable handicap hurdle. Cymro has his first start for Joseph O’Brien here but looks to have a little to do at the weights.
Exacta – 7-4 (Benkei/Motherland) Trifecta – 7-4-5 (Benkei/Savannah Storm/Motherland)
